Meeting of August 14, 2001 Held at St. Paul’s Church 7:00 p.m.

Minutes

Doug Brown brought up the idea of inviting both Mayoral candidates to speak at the next meeting. We discussed the idea of having both candidates at the same time, but decided against it. Doug will invite David Zatlin and the other candidates Questions to be addressed: How can the Coalition be more effective in advocating for our schools? What are the candidates views about education in Glen Cove? What are their priorities?

Phil Enright has expressed interest in meeting with us for the purpose of exploring common ground. There were opposing opinions. The discussion was tabled until perhaps after David Zatlin's visit.

We discussed the issue of Planned Parenthood participating in the Bionic Week activities. Janet Bates-Wilkins spoke about her concerns regarding banning the organization from participating.

A suggestion was made to provide the community with a list of School Board meetings so that community members might attend and be more aware of important issues in Glen Cove.
