The Coalition for Glen Cove is an association
of residents of Glen Cove New York who are advocates for public education.

Meeting of March 7, 2005 at St. Paul's Episcopal Church

Minutes

There were four Board of Education candidates at this meeting: Sean Dwyer, Drew Fonrose, Helen Kotzky and Fred Moore.

John Demarino spoke to Dr. Jerry Cicchelli about meeting with community organizations on the topic of the school budget, meeting with Glen Cove companies who will upgrade the school district’s computers and network, providing a “finders fee” for teachers, staff, and administrators who recruit high quality teachers who they know or know about for the district.

Mr. Demarino has not yet received a call from Dr. Cicchelli about these issues.

Don Scarl, John Demarino and the four school board candidates will go to community organization meetings to talk about the school budget. These members will also contact the St. Patrick’s Outreach Program.

Don Scarl will write a letter to the Board of Education and one to the Administration with suggestions that might give the community more information about the operation of the school district, give residents more opportunity to present facts and opinions at school board meetings, and encourage the community to support the school district.

Claudia Delgrosso will organize a letter writing and phone campaign for the school budget.

Leslie Whitely will organize an open house in one of the school buildings for Glen Cove realtors.

Another opportunity is to have our students go to their neighbors talk with them about the schools and ask them to approve the school budget.
