Congratulations to the Robert M. Finley Middle School Concert and Jazz Bands, as both recently captured top honors in the Music in the Parks Festival held at Dorney Park in Allentown, PA.
Under the direction of Nicholas Carbuto, the Concert Band won first-place honors by completing the festival with an average score of 94.5, having received the perfect score of 10 in three of the five categories of adjudication. The Jazz Band, also led by Mr. Carbuto, won first place with an average score of 96. and won the Overall Award with the highest point total of any jazz band in the festival.
Adjudicator Glen Donahue said, "This is a mature sound for a middle school jazz band. They play stylistically correctly in every way." (Glen Cove Record Pilot, June 23, 2011)
